Re: Languages

Actually not true, if my memories serves me right, there are at least two developers who are not British. It was decided long ago I think to base it on British English. One of the reason was that the servers are located in GB. But I may be wrong. At least that's what I still have on my memory form a...

Re: [RFC] Include and use jQuery

I am also in favor of a localized copy of jQuery or at least a switch where the user can decide if he wants to use the local version or the Google hosted one. To add what others already said in favor of a localized version, there is also those phpBB boards to be considered whose server stands in a c...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

Just thought I throw in another thought. If everything runs smothly phpBB3.1 is supposed to see the light at the end of this year, which would be in about 5 months. Now Acyd Burns posted back in 2009: We plan to have up to two supported branches at any given time; a stable branch (currently 3.0.x) a...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

There is a difference between giving support and allowing support. Apparently not for phpBB2, I just don't get why is this any different. Besides that, giving support in a topic to a user with a problem is completely different from supporting something in a standard package and providing code chang...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

No it doesn't. I have a heavily modded board and heavily customised themes and the updater always works fine. If a board is customised so much that it can't use the automatic updater anymore then the owner probably has enough knowledge to do it manually but most people don't. Well, I have to admitt...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

....... What surprises me is that it apears to me that you do not understand what I wrote. Maybe it is because my mothertongue is not English. If you carefully reread my reply you will notice that I did not „tell“ you anything but gave a suggestion. Back on topic. You said it yourself, the inclusio...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

As great as that would be, it's not really the point. Lots and lots of board owners will get in trouble without the automatic updater or being able to ask questions about their style on phpbb.com that will actually get an answer. The problem not being able to use the automatic updater exists alread...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

Honestly said I am not so sure what is so offensive about that post. SS2 is past lets move on. Input from the users of the software is important, but in the end the team has to make the decision. Either you like it or not. Personally I never really cared much for SS2 and am happy to hear that it get...

Re: Number formatting

In general I like the idea. The problem is not all languages use the comma as the separator the same way. I.e. 3500 this way converted to 3,500 would for you mean in words three thousand five hundred. For me that would say three and one half with the two zeros just being placeholders. For me you wou...
