Re: [RFC|Accepted] General Hook Architecture of phpBB3.1

Valid argument. Okay, you decide, however take into consideration you will need to have really good accessible/simple/up-to-date documentation.

Re: [RFC|Accepted] General Hook Architecture of phpBB3.1

Well but...why not just make it easier by prefixing it? More work, longer strings? I do not consider this as a valid argument. The easier extension author finds appropriate event, the more likely he will develop. It is not about how easily YOU can maintain the code, but how easily COMMUNITY can chan...

Perfect as an extension, but really not in the core.

Re: [RFC|Accepted] General Hook Architecture of phpBB3.1

Yes, and it is problem for MODs currently working with 3.0.x. The only thing that saves that is creation of extensions, but (as you tell) MODs are not expected to disappear after release of 3.1, so every MOD using template system, even every theme needs to be changed to work with 3.1. So if there wi...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] General Hook Architecture of phpBB3.1

nickvergessen, great idea! Others: you tell me, how often you change filename/class/function name? Once chosen, it does not change ever! Otherwise it removes backward compatibility with MODs. I agree in adding prefixing, it massively increases ease of finding proper events while developing extension...

Re: [RFC] Include mobile style

Well, using responsive design would remove problems with improper display on mobile phones, however I would rather go in the way of separate style for mobile, because: we can send less data, page would be loaded faster style authors can invent more styles for mobile phones, so that users can select ...

Re: [RFC] Permissions for Board Statistics

Well, I would not include this option to the core. As MartinTruckenbrodt (and others) said, if forum is empty, then it is simply empty. phpBB should offer discussion board only, marketing stuff should be care of MODs/extensions.

And what is the problem in here?

Does anybody know how Wordpress manages that?

Re: [RFC] Human Readable URLs

new column in DB and few lines in viewtopic.php I think most coders think and act like that. But what about performance? Looking up a text means more stress to the DBMS than looking up an integer. Also those mod_rewrite solutions suffer from Apache eating more CPU cycles. I'd really like to see how...

Re: [RFC] Human Readable URLs

Why not simply make "title" GET key available to be used, make it easier for MOD authors to access it, so that it can be used by .htaccess to make nice URLs, so that users can see what topic is about even when hovering over the link. I think this is the propose of this RFC... I think it can be simpl...
