Anyone who needs the latest jquery can really, really easily update it to that and deal with any compatibility issues themselves. I wouldn't spend time worrying about it or risking breaking things for it.

No, it doesn't. Read the code he posted. It basically says "if there are new PMs, show the number of PMs; otherwise, just show the words 'Private Messaging'". :wink:

Sorry, I think this is a bad idea. I like the consistency of whether or not I have new messages.

+1 to the possibility of having more control over how the theme treats messages. Currently iirc it's a {LANG} variable that distinguishes only between whether the word message(s) is plural? The ability to display a different element with a different class would be nice.

I think we really really need 2 things:

1. A barebone theme
I can take subsilver apart and start creating a new style from it but there're still classes from subsilver inside the template files. Taking out files from it is also very tedious.
