Re: Quick Reply

I didn't claim otherwise.
That's just how I was reading the "good developers will isten, and these developers aren't listening on this issue" line of discussion.

Again, you seem to be interpreting comments as being far more belligerent than they actually are.
That's possible, but unintentional ...

Re: Quick Reply

...good developers will take into consideration the opinions of their software's community.
We have no clear evidence that we don't have good developers simply because at some point in the past the developers made a project goal decision that rejects any value to phpBB core of quick reply. We do ...

Re: phpBB 3.2 Discussion

Obviously we're not being prevented from bringing the subject up nor from being critics. But, I think, we ought to pick our battles. Discussing how phpBB could be improved is not the same as alleging that the project is being handled improperly. The latter kind of citicism is a much more difficult ...

Re: Quick Reply

Deciding what features should and should not be included is always going to be arbitrary by your definition, because almost any feature will have those that wish to use it, like it, feel it's in line with the project's goals, and those that don't.
This I don't see. A message board has a certain ...

Re: Quick Reply

The adjectives, I think, give a flavor to the discussion that seems arbitrary if there is no compelling argument. Obviously I include the "brute force" community preference argument in the category of not compelling.

Suppose, for example, that a clear majority of the community wanted the option of ...

Re: phpBB 3.2 Discussion

... I do not think it is right to stop him/her by leaving out that feature.
That line of argument could be invoked about any feature a large segment of the community deems important. I'm not sure the nature of open source software in general and phpBB in particular supports the open-ended use of ...

Re: Quick Reply

I can see inane, but why egotistical? It makes no obvious sense to throw ad homs in an already inane discussion. It's quite possible to disagree with the developers' decision, and many understandably do, but I have yet to see a compelling argument mustered on either side. It does boil down to ...

Re: Reporting Inconsistencies?

you got me confused here.
Which is something I am, by nature, for good or ill, apt to do.

how many kinds of moderators are there, anyway?
There is at least one kind. I don't know if it follows that since the topic has not been split there are no moderators of the kind kind, though. It's as ...

Re: Reporting Inconsistencies?

I think the developers' attention to styling issues, given the size of the team, must pretty much center on Tom. Outside the fact that right now I'm hoping the developers are taking a substantial break, I can only guess at where enhancements and adjustments to the styling system fit into the ...
