There is as far as i know only 1 mod that is official easymod compatible .... but if the install file is written according to the coding guidelines from phpbb then it should work.
Are you sure that you placed the mod you want to install in the correct folder ?
You should make a folder in admin/mods ...

I would suggest to re-upload to see if that fixes the problem.

Are you sure that easymod files and folders have the 755 permission (chmod) ?

The only way to do that is to google for an md5 calculator and then use that to generate a pass.
Then go into the database in the config table search for EM_password
And change the value there with the md5 hashed pass you got from the md5 calculator.

There is no easymod for phpbb 3 ....although there is development for something like that for phpbb 3 .... but it is not certain when that will be finished

It updates the database to latest version and does not edit files

have you run update_to_latest.php

Did you purge the cache

Make sure the mods folder is CHMOD 755
