my guess would be the upgrade would be from the latest 2.0.x version down to all the previous versions without database changes.

make the directories (cache/templates/subSilver) and then chmod it to 777.

For the first one, i had that problem, cannot remember how i fixed it, probably a re-install.

For the second one, i use this command, it's not what you should use, you get a small warning when you use it, but it works fine.

Yes, it will support firebird, but i believe only mySQL database schemas are updated as progress is made.

I also thought about using 2.1.1 on my site, but i decided against it for similar reasons to SHS'. The manual table updates are a huge pain, plus the UCP aint working yet.
