For the mods questions, it would really depends on whats mods are installed. If non oef them modified the database, everything should be fine (since you'll be replacing all the files anyway), if there some substancial modifications to the DB, there may cause problems.

I think you only get that error the first time you view the gallery, after you click a link, it should go.

I dont think it matters as long as you can get to the server with phpBB running on it.

I believe the only confirmed date is this year, there's nothing more specific than that for the moment.
