Re: User Security

Forgot, Example can be found in the Facebook. My name is not my login and i don't find it confusing at all. :) Using your email address to login would make total sense as you have to provide that information anyways and would remember that. I am all for that and it makes some sense. Having some arb...

Re: User Security

Yes, Firefox is wonderful, and seems to have a lot less critical hack your system flaws than IE....if you are using IE, then I can understand why you feel that security isn't an issue, since you are pretty clueless about how terrible Microsoft is about security holes. That doesn't prove much of any...

Re: User Security

Bottom line is it WILL be a nuisance no matter how much YOU think it will not be. I hate to break the news to you but not everyone uses FireFox (not sure if Chrome has this) so the feature you mentioned that the username field is filled in automatically will not be available on all browsers a...

Re: User Security

It would be nice if Rhea supported decoupling the logon username from the display name by default, so that you could specify that the username be anything that falls into a specified ruleset, but the display name on the forums is something different....that way someone that gains access to the memb...

Re: rethinking the "New" development changes

having three or more versions being developed simultaneously at one given time doesn't allocate our limited resources as we should. True...but once 3.1.x gets released development for 3.0.x will stop. Once 4.x is released development for 3.1.x will stop so on so forth. From looking at the different...

Re: Mobile browser support

So you're only going to cater to the 1-5% of the world that will have a laptop-sized mobile phone in their pockets when phpBB4 rolls out? I don't think that should be the focus of the mobile browser support if it were to be added in phpBB4. It should be a simple interface without any bells and whist...

Re: Älphäbet url support

code reader wrote:-- and btw: this looks like one of the cases where a phpbb2 patch would not be out of place also.
The only reason a phpBB2 patch would be officially released is if there is some security vuln. found and this hardly qualifies...

Re: Attachment Management

my sense is that this will not be good for the quality of discussion. Agree 100% with that. #2 well, when I try to download this, it gives me the exact filename on my local computer http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=203301#p203301 So? Would you rather some random name? What benefit does...

Re: Attachment Management

Following the spirit of discussion... 1. Store by month instead of user_id Echoing what iWisdom said...why? What would be the purpose of that? 2. Rename each attachment Not sure you've looked at the current attachments feature but attachments are not stored with the original name. 3. Add watermark S...

Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

Please at least try to think outside the box ;) I do try to think outside the box. But I also take into consideration Google's "excellent" track record for keeping private things private. I would like to be wrong of course but only time will tell I guess. It's a protocol not a service from Google. ...
