I belive what he meant was to use the salt unencoded, then encode the salt for database storage as so wandering eyes would not accedentally see it. This works ofcourse because you can reverse a base64 encoding ( base64_decode() ).

Exactly. Its easy, and regular members would no doubt take part. Sure, you might not want this on such a forum as yours, but thats one out of millions. Just go to an existing forum using a karma solution and look how much it is used.

I dont think you should mix karma like that. There should be karma that you have recived, and karma that you can give away. You should not be able to give away karma you have recived.
