Re: [RFC] BBcode ideas

Your forum/topic/attachment BBCodes can be easily created with the current system.

A RFC should contain a finished concept proposing a feature, it's pros, con, comparison to the current system, technological implementation etc..This really should go into discussion first.

Re: "British English" language name

We do not impose any guidelines for translators on how to name their language packs. We require consistency in the iso codes, but the English and local identifiers are totally up to them. You can send a suggestion to the maintainer of the US English language pack to make the change, most probably I ...

Re: 3.1 Branch?

See http://wiki.phpbb.com/Git, at the bottom of the page, there is a workflow diagram.

phpBB 3.1 will be developed in the same repository as phpBB 3.0, as it will be based on it.

Re: Root .htaccess in 3.0.7 breaks boards on some hosts

IMHO, I really find it objectively stupid to not allow Allow/Deny declarations in .htaccess, is phpBB supposed to support every weird hosting setup?

Re: [RFC] Symfony 2

I like frameworks as such however I have to admit that I don't like symfony. I have had very bad experiences with the complexity of the code and folder structure. It just appears to me very bloated and I really love the structure of phpbb3. For me phpbb3 is great to write additions or external soft...

Re: [RFC] Symfony 2

@rma-web: SEO URLs are just a side-effect of the key feature for frameworks - routes. With routes, you can manage any URL scheme just by defining new routes, internally the system only references controller -> view links. I haven't yet seen the routing implementation in Sf2, but I think it will be a...

Re: [RFC] Symfony 2

I personally don't like the idea of basing phpBB 4 on Symphony, even if it does get more developers in, it will kick out a fair number of the old MOD and Style Developers. I think basing it on a framework made by phpBB would suit it better. Why do you think it should kick out so many MOD and style ...

Re: [RFC & Patch][Implemented] Coding Guidelines

Using them in function calls is not quite the same as in variables. Function calls and classes I don't mind so much. I do not believe we require naming schemes to follow the coding guidelines for modifications anyways and I wouldn't think that we would do so for plugins in 4.x. EXReaction: If we us...

Re: [RFC & Patch][Implemented] Coding Guidelines

MasterZ: You will hardly see a function having more than 3, max. 4 words in their title. Look at these common examples, seem difficult to read?

Code: Select all

$this->getUserEmail();

$this->fetchAll();

$auth->authenticateUser();

$user->findByUsername();

throw new BadRequestException();
