Re: [RFC] WYSIWYG Editor/Rich Text Editor

The folks from CKEditor were kind enough to personally let us know about a release. Posting this here so everyone is aware.

Hey Guys (and maybe Gals)!

Just thought I'd let you know that CKEditor 4 is out. I know that in the past you opted for SCEditor because it was better suited for BBCode, but ...

[RFC] Specifying moderator in action notifications

Currently, when a moderator performs certain actions, the user receives an email along the lines of:

Hello <username>,

You are receiving this notification because your topic "Looking for
help/moderator" at "phpBB.com" was disapproved by a moderator or
administrator.

The following reason was ...

Re: Simplify footer notice in prosilver

I can understand Marshalrusty's objection to part 2 if having the words "forum software" did in fact reduce the number of complaints from 3rd party site visitors. But I'm not sure the cause and effect are established here, because the copyright notice may very well be the culprit of people emailing ...

Re: Simplify footer notice in prosilver

The "Forum Software" was added to distinguish what exactly is powered by phpBB, as it otherwise sounds like we are the administrators of the site. In fact, the number of people contacting us with questions/complaints about 3rd party sites using phpBB (which is quite a lot) has considerably dropped ...

This isn't necessarily the case here (since we require a session ID on the logout link), but AJAX confirmation boxes can add to CSRF protection, while plain JS boxes do not.

Re: [RFC|Merged] Delete "Confirm e-mail address"

The question that was raised in this topic was whether a second input field would actually improve that. Would people not simply copy and paste the typo to the second field? Do we have a good way of trying this out and collecting stats?
Those who reflexively Ctrl+A => Ctrl+C => Tab => Ctrl+V the ...

Re: [RFC|Merged] Delete "Confirm e-mail address"

I realize that I'm late to the party with this, but it seems like removing the confirmation field for data critical to maintaining an account is a pretty bad idea that we'll end up reverting when people inevitably complain.

We don't have an email confirmation field on Forumatic and just today, I ...

Re: [RFC] Q&A plugin by default

I think a nag in acp index would be sufficient.
In the short term, I tend to agree with Oleg.

The best solution would be a refactor of the installer to add optional pages (with a "Skip" option) to the end. This would also make it possible to change some of the currently required fields to ...
