An ideal situation for any software development team is to release a BETA and recieve no bug reports. I *think* that this is what the phpBB Team are trying to do, otherwise the BETA would have been out for a while...

I believe they intend to make Beta as stable as possible. The more stable Beta is, the sooner the final version come out.

The real issue with SF is the fact it takes some time for the mirrors to replicate new releases... rather than the amount of data they can show through their pipes. ;)
Thats a really good point. After the files first get uploaded to upload.sourceforge.net its only on one mirror for a while. So ...
