Re: Nick name protect

No, it would be extremely complex to do. First, you would have to think of all the possibilities... i could easily think more than 30. (you would also have to include all letter deviations, such as accented letters) Then you must calculate every possibility, such as *JUST* 'o' with '0' (also '0' wi...

Re: Nick name protect

i dont think its a complex programming. all you have to do is to "cannonize" the nick, say by uppercasing, replacing "o" with "0", "i", "l" and "|" by "1", "-" by "_" etc., and add a column with the cannonic form to the users table. may not be perfect, but as programming goes, will probably cost aro...

Re: Nick name protect

let me see if i understand correctly:
what you want is a way to guarantee that if you have a user whose nick is, say, "MOON"' to prevent someone else from registerring as "MO0N"?
i am not familiar with such a system, but i think it is a worthy idea.
if i didnt understand correctly, please clarify.

Re: Custom BBCodes

i will try my hand at it. i am sure some people will want to "set me straight", but here is the way i see the bbcode system: just to make things a little more complex (or, actually, the way i see it, a little more simple) i will relate to bbcode and smilies as if they were the same thing, because i ...

Re: Custom BBCodes

this discussion gets a little involved, so let me take a step back and view the scenery: part one is my assertion that custom bbcode should have the capability of defining buttons. imho this is a no brainer, but i do not intend to beat this horse any longer. part two was my sugestion that all bbcode...

Re: Custom BBCodes

The QUOTE BBCode for subSilver is NOT the same for fisubSilver. What you are suggesting that a BBCode will look the same in all styles. That ain't happening. for the first part: they may not the same, but they can and should be the same. for your second assertion: this is not necessarily true, and ...

Re: Custom BBCodes

didnt mean to offend anyone. apologies if you were offended. i said i begin to bore myself with repetition. i also did not mean to imply you said miracle on anything. my remark related to the fact that the code required to create buttons programatically without modifying any of the templates is not ...

Re: Custom BBCodes

i begin to bore even myself, so one last time: no modification to ANY file is required when adding a new bbcode. think about it: we have this feature in 2.0. when you add a new emoticon, the only thing which is modified is the database, but the next time someone press the "reply" button, they have a...
