Re: phpBB3

phpBB3 is not in beta, it is currently being actively developed (beta implies work is basically done and testing is needed to iron out the last glitches). You can get a CVS snapshot, which is completely unsupported and should not be used for live environments.

Re: For Olympus! -livejournal

I unfortunately don't have the time to take on one of the community projects. Anyway, let's not turn this into my thing, because its not. I just saw some advantages to the principle, and also that it should be extremely hassle free to get it up and running on a live board, because otherwise it proba...

Re: Just an Update

There's actual, production boards out there, running 2.0.x. All those boards are vulnerable to any security leaks in 2.0.x. IMHO, within reason, existing code maintenance (that is currently in production) should always take precendence over new developments. I worked in a software support organisati...

Re: For Olympus! -livejournal

This would be something that would benefit tremendously from being there out of the box, though... If it was an opt-in kind of thing, there would certainly be a lot less installations using this OpenID than if it were an opt-out kind of thing (or at least a "turn it on at the click of a button" inst...

Actually, we do get a print view on here, and I thought that bots actually do get served up a low bandwidth version othe board. I may be wrong.

Re: How about to integrate phpBB with Social Network Softwar

Please elaborate on what you mean by "social network software". I automatically think of IM software, but I'm sure that's not what you mean.

Re: Nick name protect

I think what qwerty-1 means is that every character maps to a single character from a limited set, such as O, o, 0, ö, etc. all map to "O", <dash>, <underscore>, <space>, etc. all map to <space>, and so on. That way, you could generate a kind of "meta" form for every nick and it would be just a matt...

Re: Forums still unread?

That's what I do when there are unread topics in a forum I don't plan to read. It's a workaround for this, too. The explanation from Martin makes sense, eventhough it's a little counter-intuitive (I have noticed this too, and I do tend to go back directly to an index page if I remember I was reading...

Re: WYSIWYG message board?

Noone is suggesting that the entire board will not work, that if you can not use the WYSIWYG-editor, tough, find another board. What is being suggested is that users with browsers that can support it, will have the choice of WYSIWYG or classic. Those that have browsers that do not support it will si...
