Re: Where to learn...

You don't need to know php to make a style. Just get a list of the template files and what each one does, and start from there. Look at subSilver to see al the {VARIABLES} which appear in each template, and design around that. Know php required, especially when making a style for phpBB2 where php wo...

Re: faster?

TAny speed increases that you see must either have stemmed out of enabling GZIP (which may have been enabled anyway!) or changes to the configuration of the server and/or the hardware it sits on. Why would enabling GZIP increase the speed, I figured it would actually slow it down do to compression/...

Re: where can i get cash mod other than phpbb.com

Why can't you visit it? the site is up afterall? Anyways, phpBB is the best place to download it, as it's the only place that I think Xore actually updates the mod, and it was recently pulled from phpbbhacks.com(i'm sure other websites host it to, but they probabaly added it themselves, so there;'s ...

Re: Who made the phpBB smilies?

I believe they were made by subBlue. I may be wrong on this but apperently the smilies existed before, and he remade them as they are now(which is why they look so similar to many other smilies). Like I said, I may be wrong on that, but I believe I read a post where one of the mods mentioned that. A...

Re: Why is smiley code getting indexed? (mrgreen)

Well, since phpBB3 is still in development, perhaps it's because the dev's haven't gotten around to that yet. Sort of like all the missing lang tags and so forth. Give it time. If it's still done like that once this board hit's the Release Candidate stage, then question why.

Re: faster?

and it has been stated many time before by the developers that they often try out code here before commiting it to the CVS, which is why this place is sometimes more "up to date" than the CVS downloads. So therefore it isn't "hacks" or "more up to date cvs version" or whatever, it's code that the de...

It was deleted. I remember it quite well actually, it included some flash video about how the plane crash into the pentagon wasn't a plane, or was done by gov't, etc ect ect.

Re: faster?

Yea, this version (2.1.2) is running extremely fast. The sql queries have dropped tremedously. My phpbb 2.0.14 board=48 queries, new phpbb 2.1.2=8. Great job devs. :D if your getting 48 queries on your 2.0.14 board, something is very wrong. Try using less mods, or mod's that have been coded a bit b...

Re: New Karma System (Theory)

Anyway, my problem with Karma is that whenever you allow people to down-vote other posts, it will be abused. If users don't like a certain post, not voting for them is enough. If you like it, give it a thumbs up or a funny or informative rating. There is no need for a thumbs down. A post is either ...
