People are so interested in Beta 3 and/or RC1 because once RC1 is released (supposedly) developers can begin writing MODs and new Themes for phpBB3 as there are supposedly going to be no major code changes between RCs and Gold

As I have said before.. it will be easy to go to phpBB v3 from v2 (late boards .21+)..

You will just loose those mods that you may or may have not needed. Or that may have been replaced in phpBB v3.

Its a risk you take when you modifiy a peice of software with unsupported codes.

While it is a milestone for getting closer to a stable release, there really isn't going to be much of a change at this point from the CVS. Looking at the bugs that are out there now, they aren't very critical or even important fixes that need to be accomplished. Just a few browser specific problems ...

As far as I know.. the gold release's will include a virtually 100% CSS driven template. Customizeable to the max right out of the box.. and from the ACP.

There will be a new style released with phpBB gold that is susposed to knock everyone's socks off.

You could start developing new styles now, you would just have to update every page of the style when RC or gold is released to make sure every variable is still used.
