Generally you can install MODs that are listed for older phpBB versions. Slight changes may be needed in the FINDs though. There may also be some incompabilities. A MOD is not a package that you install and administer. It is a set of instructions that you follow to edit your phpBB files. You will need a good text editor, NOT Notepad, for this. I recommend that you install EasyMOD to install your MODs. This will edit your files for you and make installing MODs...

If the only thing you want is subforums, I recommend Simple Subforums, which you can find in the phpBB.com MODs database when phpBB.com comes back.

Changing the domain name will not affect EasyMOD. If the forum works fine, EasyMOD will too.
