b) proper inclusion of the bugfix in a phpBB release?
Unless there is a planned release to fix this bug then I would manually add the changes now.

Is there any reason to await a) the pull request being merged
Not if it works and I have tested it both on my test and live board without any ...

That is not strictly true. Whilst it might his information he is not the "owner" of that data as the owner of that data is the person who owns the database.

There may be ways around this such as ...

The main bug in phpBB4 that I am aware of is that of auto installing extensions - also not sure about the new "auto update". There are probably others that I am not aware of but for most Admins these are the two main changes.

I notice you have added Twig but Twig is not a css framework - it is a templating system which will be used no matter which framework is used

Whist Bootstrap could be an option don't forget that there are many more css frameworks that could be utilised and that should be an option in the poll.

I believe that this discussion has already taken place and the reasoning behind not using one of the existing frameworks is that for phpBB's ...

Unless you write it yourself then you will not be able to "own" the code - whatever that means, although with open source code (as phpBB is) there is an element of ownership depending on which licence it is released under.

I want to find a pure PHP web design ...
