As far I know we use the default engine when installing, and dont provide a engine when creating the tables.

I am more curious to know when will extensions be made for 3.1.0. Did you actually look at the extensions forums at phpBB.com? Will something else replace MODX ? The composer.json kinda replaces MODX. Modifications to the core won't be allowed anymore Will there be a new customisation database page...

phpBB.com doesn't use prosilver_se, prosilver_se is based on phpBB.com instead.

What do you mean? If titania is going to be build in into phpBB? Or if we will have extensions in the database at phpBB.com?

agreed its been that way leave as is for current theme save fixing it for 3.2 Why wait 3.2 for such a small change? Why remove such small thing while every user since phpBB 1 is used to have such icon in all default styles to go the first unread post? I am ok with removing it in a brand new style, ...
