Re: Seperate Login Page

Will phpBB have a seperate "emergency" type login? The reason I ask this is because that you are hardcoding the admin panel, so should you at least make a seperate login incase a style renders the admin panel or login page inaccessable? Good question, having a seperate stype for the admin login is ...

Re: Is phpBB 3 object oriented?

my point about optimizing the sql did not mean to say that the code is not important. but consider: lets just assume (i didn't actually measure it, of course) that 80% of resources are spent on the queries, and 20% on executing php (ignore the communication overhead and such). if you optimioze your...

Re: Is phpBB 3 object oriented?

would greatly appreciate a reference to any comment by zeev that using classes hinders performance. i believe what you heard zeev say is that php4 "oo" implementation is incomplete and leaves a lot to be desired. that doesnt necessarily mean performance. of course, i am not part of phpbb developmen...

Re: Is phpBB 3 object oriented?

Don't worry, I have a pretty good grasp on PHP and OOP. The reason why I don't look into phpBB's code more indepthly is because I don't want to develop 'bad' coding standards. I'm not saying phpBB's code is bad, but if I start to look a lot at phpBB's code, I will start to do things in a similar wa...

Re: Is phpBB 3 object oriented?

phpBB 3 is and will not be OO, this was mentioned a long time ago. Something being OO doesn't mean it will give you increased performance, it may well be the opposite. Putting something into a class with no reason is stupid, and would hinder your scripts performance, If it looks the same in a class ...

Re: Permission to use DB sub-layer in other projects

The sub-layer (or API, or whatever it is referred to) that does DB access is very useful. Does the GPL that phpBB is released under allow the re-use (with full credit, of course) of this function in other projects? In any case, permission would be nice. It's allowed if the released project is under...

You can Unsubscribed, with is watch, to the topic either from the topic itself or from the UCP. I understand what your saying but just making sure you know how to remove it, outside of the email. ;) From a look at the CVS code, emails do/should contain a unsubscribed, it may just be a change they ma...
