Re: For those that can't wait for Olympus
Whether premodded or self modded a heavily modded board will be much more difficult if not impossible to upgrade to 3. (With a self modded board, at the very least you know what was added/changed so you can figure out how to uninstall the mods.) So someone useing a premodded board will have a much ...

Re: Browser popup on new PM => JavaScript Alternative?
If someone has a popup blocker on we should not assume that the user would prefer a JS alert. If a user wants to see a PM notification popup then they should take it upon themselves to adjust the settings of their popup blocker for the site they wish to allow popups for.

Re: Profile fields for topics?
I think it would make a nice mod. I don't really have any use for such a feature though. I don't know how many sites use phpBB to discuss a piece of software, but I'm sure there are quite a few. I just run a site for a band and it's not really a topic that can be broken down so finely. I have 17 ...

I don't think you telling us what you think isn't helpful is helpful. So...how are you any better?

Re: Complex permission system!
I do find the permissions complex...not because I can't figure it out, but because time is of the essence. I don't have time to double and triple check a user's permissions. However, there have been times when I have felt a user was abusing a feature and I just wanted to be able to turn that feature ...
Re: oh dear
I already know about this just from reading psoTFX posts on the board. It was noted in the last update on Olympus on phpbb.com that there were some structural changes in the team.

Geeze we're really splitting hairs here eh?
All servers are administered by members of the phpBB team but not necessarily the whole team. A single team member does not equal the whole team. Get it?

I just want to listen to my mp3s...no more, no less.
iTunes installed services that for ipod that constantly run...and since I have no ipod I found it irritating....almost as irritating as those Real services.

Re: PageBreaker: A fundamental flaw with the templates!
If links stretch the page then you're doing something very wrong, since they get shortened anyway and as for what the new style will do, we won't comment on that until it is released.
hmm...when user's post really long links they don't get shortened on my board (in 2.0.13). Maybe a mod is ...

Re: Hack Happy...
You know...I don't know. It depends. I know that I have mods on my board that have features not included in phpBB3. While I don't think my users will mind if there's a feature that's slightly different in phpBB3 from the modded phpBB2, they will mind if a feature is altogether not present in phpBB3 ...
