Re: Is phpBB 3 object oriented?

Well, this is one of the more pompous threads I've read. Take something that's an art and tell people it's a fact. To OOP or not to OOP...that is a preference. I prefer it.

I don't like spaghetti.

I really don't like COBOL.

I don't like to type more than I have to.

I DO like coming up with ...

Re: My opinion

I think it's silly to assume that because you'd use a feature everyone else will too. I have user reputation turned off on vBulletin. I think it's useless and for most boards serves no other purpose than a popularity contest. The only kind of board that I think it'd be useful for is a board that ...

Re: Olympus updates: What point is made by getting personal?

Any discussion on solution for the frustration gets blown away this way. So those who are frustrated loyal fans make sure it stays that way.

Don't like the way development is going? Go use something else. That IS the solution. The solution is not to try and tell phpBB how to run their project ...

What point is made by getting personal?

There isn't really a point. The people who have been here a long time have had to witness the same types of posts over and over and over again. Some lash out out of pure frustration. So, you've got one group frustrated by the lack of info on release and ...

Re: users are delaying release date by asking questions

Who grants someone the right to do something? just because someone has the power to do something doesn't give them the right. However i dislike philosophy. Yes as i siad twice allready they do
have the right to lock topics, ban users etc. This is the third time I have siad this.

My only problem ...

Re: users are delaying release date by asking questions

Yoda: uh, the moderators have the right to do...whatever...for no reason. I mean, they gotta answer to higher ups...not to users. There is, however, a difference between "a right" and "the right thing to do". See, one can have "the right" to do "the wrong thing".

So...you know what I hate? Customer ...

Re: users are delaying release date by asking questions

blah blah blah

There are multiple ways of seeing the progress of phpBB 3. A) you can use this board, B) you can download the CVS, and C)You can just look at the Commit Log. Having someone list out the progress would actually be redundant because the progress information is already available.

If ...

Re: Why was the WTC topic locked

Maybe something not so polarizing or sensitive....try making up a game. One that is popular on my board is group storytelling. One person starts off with a few sentences, then another person adds a few more and so on.

Re: Why was the WTC topic locked

I like to call it "opinion spam".

I'm heavily involved in activism and I frequent a number of activism oriented sites. However, I would not bring my activism here as it would be inappropriate. Education is key, and peddling your views is important. But you have to recognize when and where it is ...

Re: What will you do with your "new" board?

My entire site is built around phpBB. So I will build an entirely new site. But this is not a bad thing as this was my first large, dynamic, database driven site experience. I've learned a lot in the passed 2 years and there's a lot of things I'd do differently "If I had known then what I know now ...
