If people insist on making phpBB a twitter clone, at least give admins the ability to turn off the feature completely.

Nobody is "insisting" on keeping anything; I only questioned the need (which is what "discussions" are for) for the change. I even said I was neutral.

Does it really matter? Most people know what "click" means even if it's done with a finger on a touch screen.

I just want to be able to turn it off; I don't want my users to register or login in via a 3rd party...especially not fb/twitter/etc.

For purely display-oriented things (like how many posts per page are displayed, topic ordering or sub-forum depth), no. The admin might set a default for those things, but the user should be able to change them. Otherwise you're just micro-managing.
