And the worthless once should be removed. They do a better job at keeping real humans from registering than bots.

A catcha plugin system would be nice. But right now I'm more concerned about having a working anti spam system out of the box.

New ideas should go in the excellent ideas tool on phpBB.com (I realize its down currently), RFC should only be posted by actual developers to gauge interest and get input on how to achieve the best result.

I dont get it - you say that you do not want to wait anymore, but you have not implemented/rejected what has been suggested long ago..... and some features (or plans to implement them) go from one release to next one..... its better to say that sth will not be implemented than doing this ...
