Re: Olympus vs. the rest

Twistedweather, you often come across as argumentative and abrasive whenever I've seen you post. SHS' is usually pretty direct and to the point. However, I can recall very few situations in which I've read anything by the phpbb team where I wouldn't have been at least as abrupt with people. Especial...

Re: A "newbie" user group

It's become known as a "gold" release because in the world of mass-reproduced media the original master copy of the product that all the copies are taken from could be made of gold (which is very resistant to corrosion and weathering effects).

There is file ownership on the NTFS, but windows being windows it doesn't pay much attention to it unless you tell it to.

Re: Daylight Saving Time (DST) within one country

I agree, and that's a great philosophy, which has kept phpBB bloat-free. However, I don't look at this as bloat. I know I keep calling my code a feature, but I don't even think it's much of that either. The 'feature' of displaying the date a post was made has been a core part of phpBB since Version...

Re: Amazing work :)

Why not employ the same tactics as others :) If you want to look like your on a par, adjust your version numbering to suit. Unless theres a phpBB 3.0 around the corner which would be released this year, I'd say a 2.2 makes phpBB look like a mainly idle product. Invision recently adjusted their vers...

Re: Daylight Saving Time (DST) within one country

@Klors: Firstly I have to thank you for your patience in responding. ;) No problem, you too, always nice to have a discussion for more than 2 posts that doesn't descend into "well you're just a poo-head" kind of arguments. The fact that it's daylight savings does have relevance. If I live...

Re: Daylight Saving Time (DST) within one country

This is a tough way of discussing things. You're talking from the starting point that this way the handling of the post times is done in a proper way. I constantly say that that doesn't apply to people who live in a country where DST is used, because it's inaccurate for half of the post times. How ...
