Re: Template and style development interface
Although doing it through Flash would be quite... flashy... it would cause some problems in some slow lines, browsers, etc. etc.
I am sure it could be done with the combination of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. With those three, as suggested a preview pane can be seen.

Template and style development interface
The current style interface is functional, but minimalistic.
The template system has no interface to it, other then diving into the code itself.
I looked at the code of templates, and it seems there should be little trouble developing an add-on piece (be it a "MOD" or otherwise), which would allow ...

Re: phpBB 2.2 Modularization
What I am planning to do is as follows:
Environment:
internal login
Non-phpBB forum software
All information in postings in the non-phpBB forum is pulled from session variables, loaded when logged in using internal security.
Project plan:
* Install phpBB 2.0.2
* Convert all messages to 2.0.2 ...

Re: LDAP integration discussion
Some of you suggested a mixed LDAP/phpBB registration.
This goes directly against the idea of LDAP. Why have a centralized DB with user accounts if you allow someone to create new accounts which potentially circumvents LDAP?
Either one or the other, but not both should be used. Security in large ...

I just noticed it, but if you use Mozilla browser you can drag the Emoticons' underlying link into the text message box!
That is - mouse over the emoticon on the left, then left click-and-hold, then drag the selected emoticon into the message area where you are editing the text.

Re: Cron?
I would prefer such feature to be left outside of phpBB 2.2
My biggest concern is with locking files aspecially on a very busy board.
Locking issue - How would you deal with a log purging process where there are 10 to 20 simultanious users are connected? I am sure this is not an issue while under ...

Re: Fork phpBB

I was not thinking the phpBB core team get involved with conversion tool development. The only thing we would need from them is the basic data layout, and potential directions in the future for the same. we do have people ...

Fork phpBB
Ok, not really.
But how about a conversion team?
As in, a group of devs that write nothing but various other forum conversion solutions?
On thing lacks in ALL discussion software is extensive conversion tools.
