Re: honestly..

Also, I recall the GPL saying in order to use phpbb's code, you have to give access to the FULL unaltered version too. Would this mean you would have to include it in your install package, or simply link back to the source of the original code? and where, pray tell, does it say this? i think you mi...

Re: honestly..

Okay, now comes my official stoning by the phpbb community. :) I know there have been phpbb branches before, as someone mentioned, but IIRC they have always been badmouthed by the staff(with good reason), so I quickly brushed the idea off. After having the thought pop back up here, I was wondering i...

Re: honestly..

Jake, I really don't see how the community can help with internal changes. The community doesn't know anything about how we run internally so how can they help make changes to it? Also there would be a rather large group of people that would only give critism without suggestions on how to fix it. T...

Re: honestly..

Once again we get back to the fact that we have no right to tell these people what to do. Sorry, I just can't agree with your logic that the community which makes up the styles/modifications/support/discussion that helps to make phpbb as popular as it is has no right to an opinion on how things cou...

Re: honestly..

Unfortunately, there are a few around that can't read that without getting their feelings hurt somehow. Also, i'm not trying to degrade anything new that you guys may be starting, but I am saying now that there is new blood around perhaps some change would be good for the project? Judging from your...

Re: honestly..

It's a shame that certain people in this community seem to still have a very negative outlook on phpBB. People tend to confuse negative outlook with constructive criticism a lot. If I had a negative outlook, it would be something around the lines of... phpbb sucks so badly, it's never going to get ...

Re: honestly..

The setup of the projects is such that we have put people together on some of the projects who had expressed an interest (many noted that they were interested but could not do it on their own). And we've provided each project with a forum here where the users can talk with each other, and with us. ...

Re: honestly..

Not really sure how many times this has to be said. Perhaps I should write a bot to reply. We are not happy with how long it has taken, and have made and will make a number of changes to change this. Excellent. As I posted up elsewhere on the web, perhaps pso leaving might help development. New peo...

Re: honestly..

I think lack of updates are exactly what is killing phpbb. Yes, that's right, I said it, "killing phpbb". People have been waiting for so long for this glorious new release, and it's really quite cruel to do development this way (and I mean that in the sense of holding a beautifully wrappe...

Re: GoogleBot

On my old site(just sold it) I had about 30 googlebots who would stop by every evening and hang around for a few hours. It's awesome, unless you're on a limited bandwidth account. They do eat it up rather fast. :)
