Re: Core vs. Extensions
The real issue will be with the dependencies and the maintenance of the third parties because with this system the extensions will depends on many others extensions (why not, it could be a good thing) and so, inevitably, an official extension will depend of one future of a third party extension for...

Re: Core vs. Extensions
I like the idea. Similar to Android. I don't like the private messaging system or polls that phpBB provides so I'll use different extensions that I like better. Or I don't want bbcode, I want markdown so I disable bbcode and install a mark down extension. Instead of having to modify existing feature...

Re: AngularJS for phpbb
Since this feature is probably years away, it is silly to be talking about how you are browsing the web today as a pro or con to this discussion. Using angular or any javascript framework would be a huge change to phpBB. The PHP code would be used mostly for passing data between the DB and the clien...

Re: WYSIWYG Editor/Rich Text Editor
As an aside, in my opinion the best way to move forward with a RTE is to forget about rendering custom BBCodes in it and aim for the sweet spot in terms of cost/benefit. It's better to push out a simple working RTE right now than hold out for an exhaustive solution. XenForo doesn't even try to rend...

Re: [RFC] Autosave
An event that fires when a window is about to unload its resources. The document is still visible and the event is still cancelable. ... When this event returns a non-void value, the user is prompted to confirm the page unload. The prompt is generic the reason is never given to the user. It just sa...

Re: [RFC] Autosave
Maybe it should be tied to events, not time or changes. For example, autosave when a Preview is done or when a Close Window event is fired. That's not fast enough. The whole DOM may be gone before you can properly send the contents of the post. If that's the case, then the warn user on closing edti...

All I see is "Buy Redactor". I'm assuming this is probably not GPL compatible. From the pieces below it sounds like you can't fork Redactor which could be an issue. Probably better to steer clear. ... Permitted Use ... The OEM License: Holders of the OEM License may use the Software as if...

Re: PHPBB4 died?
Man, that is not a question of what phpbb is (it has been mostly the same thing for many years), it is a question of your attitude. Maybe it would help you deal with it if you would stop expecting phpbb being something it is not? =) I have accepted that phpBB is in decline and probably will be dead...

Re: PHPBB4 died?
Why spend your free time on a project where very few seem to understand or appreciates your efforts... Most people don't follow development so releases are how they determine how much effort has been put in the product. Both of you are correct, 3.1 is taking significantly longer than it should have...
