There's a mod available for this for phpBB2 which may very well be updated for 2.2 as well. It's still in beta but you can grab it at codemonkeyx.net or in the MOD beta development forum at phpbb.com.

Re: Karma Level
Davidls, I agree with that suggestion. One other thing, will moderators and administrators always be viewable regardless of their karma level and what the user sets as their threshold. The presnt Ignore List MOD makes this the case so that important posts by these members can always be read. It ...

Re: Subforum
I think all that joshpape is saying is that the sub-subforum should be visible in the subforum but not the original forum. So basically the relationship between the sub-subforum and the subforum should be the same as the relationship between the subforum and the forum.

Re: Avatar size
A remote avatar check once when it is initially set should be enough to cover users accidently linking to an avatar that is too big. Most people who would change the file linked to after it has been set in their profile would be people trying to cause trouble anyway, who can be dealt with by admins ...

Re: Detailed who's online...
Perhaps a more advanced "hidden" option would be good. You can choose whether to hide your status completely or just hide which thread you are reading or replying to.
