I first thought Dojo would be better for phpBB because it has more resources and tools for styling themes and UI, aswell as DOM and AJAX stuff that would not doubt be used by developers, and it is very nicely documented. Why dont you figure the timezone out by comparing the js time with php time in the same range then use the php time of the matching timezone. This way you don't need to store the javascript time for each user in the database and if the user wants to change the time they can correct the timezone from...

I think this is a great idea along with the custom permissions on bb-codes. Although there always space for adding these features with plugins, the idea of picking and choosing exactly what you want from what is included in phpbb by default would make phpbb much more friendly to modify for features ...

I think jquery is a great library, and is considered the most popular and usable almost as an industry standard, but I think all the pro and cons of several javascript libraries should be compared for overall purpose and functionality which suits phpbb the most, and is likely to have constant featur...

Yeh not really completely neccessary, if your doing work on a forum anyway you will most likely be on a desktop computer.
