Re: notification method is_available() (possible) bug

Oh I see that. But the semantics of the code clearly shows that receiver is the subject here. So I created the PR that at least somehow deals with it (by exposing receiver user ID):

notification method is_available() (possible) bug

Hi everyone, I want to discuss usage of is_available() in notification methods. So far there is no method that uses auth class. So everything works normally, but I have added a new method which now looks like this: ... public function is_available() { return $this->auth->acl_get('...'); } ... So I w...

Re: I want to start contributing

ReneeDegutis, template events are very easy in fact. Create a new issue in the tracker (it is a necessary evil). Then send a pull request from properly named branch which includes changes in two files: original file you want to add event to /docs/events.md - this file contains a list of all events, ...

Re: Moving developement discussion to Discord

Okay I think both services provide pretty much the same except for Discord is for free while Slack isn't if you want to use search and don't want to force users to register. Slack is free for nonprofit with less than 250 members (difficult to influence), otherwise it's 85% discount: https://get.slac...

Not just that. You can send code with highlighting, directly upload files and images, see history without effort and search it just as well...

Re: Moving developement discussion to Discord

I've run a development community for an open source project since 2004. We've primarily communicated on our phpBB forums, but also had an IRC channel that wasn't as frequently used. About a year ago we moved to Discord and the improvement in community engagement was absolutely incredible. What kind...

Re: phpBB 3.2.4-RC1 released

Error says clearly that file required to update is missing. It is obvious since you didn't use update package but full package. BUT on the other hand phpBB shouldn't offer "DB & files" update with full package...

Re: PhpBB server load management

A quick test on my local 3.2.x install shows that it takes between 200-300 files and 1-6 queries to get past session_begin() , the smaller number being for a hot cache. I don't think the exact number of queries really matters, it's more about having to create a connection. It takes about ~60ms to g...

Re: On password protected forums...

I can imagine there are users who use this. I have heard of boards that are kind of a game which you solve by reading hints in the topics which reveal passwords to new forums where you can find more hints. But yeah, definitely an extension (maybe official one since we don't want to discontinue a fea...
