Re: What's wrong with phpBB development

An FYI to those who may be as confused as I was when I saw this topic...I did not create it. The title and location were not my choosing, it was apparently split off my reply to naderman's reply to me in the subsilver topic. I'll try and say this again. phpBB is driven by what the people working on ...

What's wrong with phpBB development

RFCs are not meant to be used to collect data on the opinions of all phpBB users. But you use them to justify your decisions anyway by generalizing that small sample's response and applying it to the whole user base. RFC's should not be used as opinion polls or general surveys, they should be used ...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

For example even if we knew exactly how many prosilver and subsilver users there were, we still would not know why those people use prosilver or subsilver. We would know just as much about whether a prosilver based subsilver style would satisfy most subsilver2 users, as we know now. But you know en...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

Nobody is required to support anything. Since when? Last I knew the *Official* phpBB Group policy is that they provide support for anything they release. Don't confuse volunteer community participation in support with official Support Team duties. You also have many terms and conditions under which...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

but will try to explain it as far as I understand it (someone correct me if I am wrong). Ok, since you did ask. :P What I think you do not understand is that if a user's problem with phpBB is determined to be related to a third party style the phpBB support staff are not required to provide support...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

Yeah I'm not sure where that came from either. We wouldn't refuse support for using a non-standard style. We have hundreds of styles currently available and we try and provide support as best we can. I think the missing word here is "official" in regard to support. Currently you (Support ...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

1. Development team admits they haven't considered the overlooked point of view and reinstates the discussion about removal of subsilver What concerns me more is that they did not consider any data and as far as I can tell it never occurred to them to collect it. The frequency with which they rely ...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

I find it very likely that someone (possibly from on the teams) will release the subsilver2 style as it is (only updated) in the customisation database. Again not the point. Once it becomes a third party style and not *Official* it loses the only guarantee of support it had and becomes vulnerable t...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Removal of subsilver2

Honestly said I am not so sure what is so offensive about that post. SS2 is past lets move on. I am not surprised you do not understand what I found offensive, you just did the exact same thing. When you make comments like "SS2 is past lets move on." you are assuming that you have the rig...

Re: [RFC|Accepted] Resuming for attachments / HTTP range sup

Wki is not a source of objective data. I generally would agree with that as I know at one time a wikipedia entry for Albert Einstein served up a pornographic image. ;) However, I am curious how many web-servers you "have touched" Do you have an actual number or estimate you are basing you...
