I have total respect and appreciation for the work of the devs, but I must say that I have the same feeling as code reader about the status and the future of phpBB. I know how hard it is to give ETAs with software development, and I am not blaming anybody, but the current strategy so far isn't ...

Making fun on the release date and the grandsons, in particular in an information topic on the development board (as opposed to a general chit-chat section) is, if not disrespectful, at least not nice IMO.

It is likely to take several more months, if not over 1 year. Currently it is not yet in alpha stage, although this should happen very soon (how soon?). After the alpha stage, developers correct me if I am wrong, it must go through beta and RC stage, and only then after that the final version will ...

Not against the idea, but IMO not essential, as (IMO again) a good moderator should always reply to a topic when he performs some action on it, in order to explain what he's doing. The only possible exception I see to this is editing posts sometimes.
