Re: [Discussion] Downtime and Server Compromise

I was given a link to a blog that would appear to be the blog of the person who did this criminal act (it is a criminal act, right) and I would like to know if we are allowed to use information the blogger posted to ask specific questions related to what the blogger wrote? I'm afraid there are a fe...

Re: How many phpbb users are programmers?

That sounds fair enough, theexcogitator.

By the way, where's that "Smart Way to Ask Questions"? Sometimes knowing how to ask a question isn't so easy.

I suspect that's a text I'll need to be studying a lot.

EDIT: Scratch that question. Found it: http://catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

Re: How many phpbb users are programmers?

And there it is again -- "uninformed" being equated with "stupid".

I really don't understand the thinking there.

Everybody is uninformed about something, and most are uninformed about most things.

So, I suppose that makes most of us stupid, yes?

Re: Will the dev team give us a surprise on new year's day?

What was it that Oddball said in "Kelly's Heroes"?

"There you go with them negative waves again. Think positive, baby. Think positive!"

..
Just wanted somebody to know that this "idiot" read the thread, too.

Is Using "Newbie" Insulting?

I noticed the use of "newbie (noob)" in another thread and was curious what a definition on Wikipedia might look like. A newbie is a newcomer to a particular field, the term being commonly used on the Internet, where it might refer to new, inexperienced, or ignorant users of a game, a newsgroup, an ...

Re: Subforums are spiffy

I did a search and it seems “spiffy” is a very popular word with you folks on these forums. spiff•y (spĭf'ē) adj., -i•er, -i•est. Smart in appearance or dress; stylish. tr.v., -ied, -y•ing, -ies. To make attractive, stylish, or up-to-date: spiffying up my wardrobe. [Possibly from dialectal spiff, da...

But you'll have to excuse me. I just took a second look and see you didn't post on that thread. Sorry about that.

Re: BETA4 from the get-go?

Ah, those upper case letters do work, don't they? DO NOT! I've run across many examples on the boards where your opinions, Highway of Life, were highly valued and/or sought after, so I guess I've got to pay attention. I love challenges, but I suppose this would be a bit much, eh? I think I've got th...
