Year 2173, a news channel report:
Archaeologists discovered a "bug"
Today, Mr. Buddler and his team of archeologists came up with a sensation. After returning from an archaelogical mission, they claimed to have found a so-called "bug".
Like we all know from our school books, bugs were expected ...

Re: Admin Private Messages Manager
My profession makes me a little better able to research and comment on this. I am physician and lawyer (although not active in the legal realm) in the US government. I have served time internationally in Iraq, Germany, and Eastern Europe. While I hate to call you wrong, but I think you are ...

Re: Admin Private Messages Manager
Interessting discussion.
I tend to view it this way:
What is the purpose of my forum? What do I want to offer the users?
One thing is, that I want to have a forum where the users like to be, and where they feel comfortable.
I would not feel comfortable in my own forum, or any forum, if I would know ...

Re: When Will YOU Upgrade to phpBB3?
for us, testers, the "reward" for our effort of discovering and reporting bugs is to see those bugs fixed.
when bug reports are lying a long time with a "not reviewed" status, it's a deterrent from reporting more bugs.
I think it mostly just looks like that. My impression is, that they just let ...

Re: Backup / Restore
Ok, so the backup/restore is not meant to really be used, except for people with a small database?
I think then there should be a notice at the backup-tool which explains that.
The danger thing here for people who dont know this is, that the backup may work fine, while the restore may not (happened ...

Backup / Restore
When restoring the database in the ACP, it will not work with larger databases, because the maximum allowed execution time for a php-script will be exceeded.
Off course, max_execution_time could be set higher to avoid this. But this would not be possible for everyone, depending on the hoster, and ...

Re: About file permissions, ecryptions, ssl, bots etc.
I would like to set just enough permission on phpbb files, so as to run the forum normally with full features. That is, user should not be able to download any source file, that are not needed, since source code, path location etc is well known. Not more than what is needed should be visible. Are ...

msg_handler() requiring access to /adm/
In phpBB2.0.x, it's easy to make an additional protection of the admin control panel by using .htpasswd for the admin-folder, and I guess a lot of people are using this.
In Olympus, if an E_USER_ERROR occurs, msg_handler() is creating a page that uses the stylesheet in the adm-folder (adm/style ...

No "code change Updates" for Olympus after gold?
Hi,
I am not sure how I should understand a part from the "beta 4 released"-news:
Updating from Beta3 to Beta4
This section is meant as a tiny guide for those deciding to test the updater. We only provide the packages for the automatic update tool, the other packages are not available for the ...
