Re: Templating vs XML + XSL?
Aside from the fact until PHP5.whateveritwas that bundled libxml2, XSL support in PHP was really rather poor, XSL itself has a rather whacky syntax and the fact you need to figure out XPath (bit like SQL for XML :P)... even a simple XSL for transforming Atom or RSS2 into XHTML is quite "eep":

Templating vs XML + XSL?
I know, it sounds like some kind feature request, but I want to know: "What do you think of XML + XSL instead of the current template system?" I think that would have some major advantages, for example easier integration with other applications and easier templating. When you build such a system ...

Bug in the requirement testing?
When you install a new phpBB3 board there is a check if GD is present. If GD is available, the advanced Visual Confirmation will be turned on. One problem: It is possible that GD is not compiled wil freetype. If that's the case, the image won't work, and registration will be inpossible.

Re: New permissions screen discussion..
The permission page is quite slow on the Opera browser. (the old one was too) That's because of the strange kind of rendering that Opera uses. Isn't there an way to speed that up? (think about 30 sec for loading a page with 6 usergroups and 10 forums, while in IE it is immediatly there)
Is there a ...

Re: Captchas and Human Readability - Discussion
Another idea to reduce the amount of spambots: make a system to install new anti-bot solutions easy. Then make a mod database with much different CAPTCHA's, a boilerplate question, a field shuffler, all those thing that are earlier mentioned above. Because much bots focus on one kind of those ...

Re: Captchas and Human Readability - Discussion
The most efficient anti-spam technique is still to use/enable something unique, such as a custom profile field, a required other field to be filled out, a different captcha, a different url for registration... all things making sure it goes away from the default setup.
Is it an idea to start an ...

Re: When Will YOU Upgrade to phpBB3?
I will upgrade when RC1 and the Dutch language pack are both available. They said it will be available as soon as RC1 is launched. I hope (read: I am sure) RC1 will bring down the number of spam messages.
