Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

Indeed, the magic is in the protocols. I suspect that Wave is being shutdown as a separate product, and the protocol will be integrated in other things in the future.

Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

Dog Cow: The wave client "Google Wave" is their product, so yes, of course they have their own server. But GWFP is a completely open protocol, not a product or a service. But honestly, even if the idea is a little abstract, the tech isn't that new. XMPP has been around for a while, has no ...

Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

a discussion board based on this paradigm, at least as far as i understand, will not be a natural candidate for an existing phpbb board to upgrade to/migrate to. Database routines an converters to grab threads, assemble them into waves, and throw them onto the wave server can be written. User migra...

Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

I don't see why it would be so difficult to create an extension... phpBB could even have some kind of SOAP based API that Wave could hook into... it doesn't need to be built into the code of the product. Most true. And in fact, that may be the best way to do it. But, I definitely think building aro...

Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

Thanks ToonArmy. Yes, GWFP it is a protocol, just like how POP and IMAP are protocols for email. It's completely open source and completely independent of Google and their products, other then the fact that they have invested/planned it's first stages. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a beta, but...

Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

As could everyone else or maybe "Big Brother". No thanks :P Clearly, you don't understand. That's only possible if you use the same wave account everywhere. I use the same username "marosell" in many places, but I have to register it everywhere. Of course big brother (or anyone ...

Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

Introduction I was just reading this fantastic article and noticed that people who haven't read ideas like these, really don't understand Wave yet: http://mashable.com/2009/09/05/google-wave-ideas/ Before I jump into my ideas for phpbb4, note that there are many, many people and web services that a...

Right... uh... my point exactly. I did that on purpose to get my point across but didn't think anyone would catch it. So yeah.... hey look over there!
