Re: Permission priorities

In my experience, "Unset" really serves as kind of a "soft no" in that it serves as no until you grant them a yes permission elsewhere. In determining permissions, I personally have been reserving the use of "No" for selectively removing a single person or group's permi...

Re: Gradient too small

Not to mention the gradient this post originally talked about has long since been replaced with what you see now. :p

Before, for those who never saw, it was a ... blue thing.

Re: Suggestion to make phpBB easier?

Well, conceivably you could put in your FTP details, your http location, and probably your database information... seems a bit over-the-top for a forum installation, especially as it wouldn't do anything to solve putting in the wrong information. The only step it would eliminate is uploading the fil...

Re: New Register System.

All the options are still available in your user control panel, however. It just quickens (and simplifies) the registration process.

Re: Problem with .tar file

In my experience, Winzip's troubles come about if you do "View link from location" in IE, and the equivalent in Mozilla, which I can't remember at the moment. I rarely, if ever, have problems reading .tar.gz with Winzip if I save the file first.

Then again, WinRAR never has trouble.. ;)

Re: Something to consider (not a request or suggestion!)

...Unless you're a dial up user, and can't wait for the pages to load? Except that it downloads everything anyway. It just won't show it until you click on the plus. It's the pinnacle of annoying design. I like the current phpBB admin panel system--I suppose some don't like to scroll as much? I don...

Re: phpBB 2.1.2 download

Well, to get "M2", your best bet would be to retrieve the proper tag of CVS, but with Sourceforge's current CVS situation, that's easier said than done. At least, I think it was tagged. Second, it's not going to work any better than any other snapshot you can get, so it wouldn't solve any ...

Re: Why not as clearly in the administration as vBB, WBB etc

<?php if ($vB_price == $UBB_threads_price) { echo('Aexoden is wrong'); } $vB_price = 129; $UBB_threads_price = 129; ?> As far as I can see, a UBB.threads license is $229, and OpenTopic is, well, they make you request a quote (in my quick check). However, Infopop is catering primarily to the corpora...

Re: Why not as clearly in the administration as vBB, WBB etc

I look at big businesses buying the support, and I wonder why they just don't make sure their IT people are competent in what they're doing. I suppose it's hard to make them accountable without having at least one person who knows what's going on. Still, if you're a business and you're running a for...

Re: Organization of Admin Panel?

It might be if the admin panel were templated. However, it's not, so it's not. To make such a modification, you'd have to muck around in the php files to add the JavaScript or whatever is necessary, since I have no idea. I suppose there's a small chance a MOD will appear for such a functionality, th...
