Re: Attachment Management

I hope my words did not offend anyone, but it gets really frustrated when I don't know how to contribute (people post different things, one does feature, one does the core).

For #1 - store by month - this might be a cultural difference so I am not going to comment that. Either method is good.
#2 ...

Re: Attachment Management

Seriously, I do not understand what this forum is for.
First of all, team members even posted threads on features, not just me.

Secondly, we are here to give ideas and we do not get pay for this.

A team member said he and the phpBB team wanted to introduce ideas here, not to bring revolution(to ...

Attachment Management

I think this is a big topic to be discussed. I just want to start this, so tell everyone what do you think about the current management, and what do you expect for the future?

1. Store by month instead of user_id
2. Rename each attachment
3. Add watermark
4. Use Gmail attachment's upload method ...

Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

Let's stick with the phpBB (somehow we are way over the boundaries already)

Google will continue to host its Wave, of couse. Treat G.W like a website with a bunch of little chat rooms. Each chat room runs by someone outside Google, but they will use Google's resources to retrieve necessary ...

Re: Search Architecture

[php] x [mysql] x [tutorial] to be your main focus (like in regular search, you can specific which forums to be searched), and then you can enter some detail keywords. This is one way.

Treat this thought (my idea) like a regular search, a new idea about tags in search process

[php] x [mysql] x ...

Re: Search Architecture

lol I never said to replace the regular search with my tags. (I hope this is not a heated discussion - I don't want people to stop our discussions)

I said to include tags can be alternative. Whether users use it or not, that's not our concern. The concern is to build a better search. I do ...

Re: Search Architecture

The accuracy of search is based on content. The accuracy of tagging is based on arbitrary information entered by a user. Every seen YouTube's tags?

Youtube is an example of "lame and useless tag" because (1) it is only for video, (2) people go on Youtube for fun. They don't care what tag means ...

Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

Well, an option is almost like a default. This is why I say, "more like a default in phpBB4", which implies it's there.
Unless this option is another API which users has to go around to build it.

Re: Wave Federation Protocol Integration (API)

As could everyone else or maybe "Big Brother". No thanks :P
Clearly, you don't understand. That's only possible if you use the same wave account everywhere. I use the same username "marosell" in many places, but I have to register it everywhere. Of course big brother (or anyone else for that ...

Re: Search Architecture

Tagging relies that (1) the OP will take the time to tag their post (2) that the tags will be accurate -- both of these are uncertain enough that IMHO they should not be relied on for searching (or anything else honestly).

Yes you are right on those issues. However, (1) tagging doesn't take that ...
