Re: SPAMBOTS - how can we stop them - read FIRST post.
Most spam registrations these days are automated, which means that they'll make a direct link to the register page. Quite frankly, you'd be more effective changing the filename for the registration page than removing the Register link. (But changing the filename is technically quite a bit harder.)

Re: SPAMBOTS - how can we stop them - read FIRST post.
One of the best things you can do is to come up with something unique for your own site. Spammers try to run their attacks across as many sites as they can at once, which is why they targeted and cracked the phpBB CAPTCHA because it is so widely used (not to mention freely-available open-source). Ho...

Re: SPAMBOTS - how can we stop them - read FIRST post.
I was afraid that would be the case. I don't see a 3.0.2 to 3.0.4 package so I might just wait until the phpBB web site comes back online in case I have a problem with the upgrade. If you've got MODs installed, then you'll need to run the phpBB 3.0.2 to 3.0.3 auto-update package first, and then the...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!
No offense, but it sounds to me that you are just being stubborn. Do you really want to install a board which has those new features but is really buggy? In my opinion, a forum full of bugs would drive away users, rather than a temporarily stable board with maybe a few less features (not very many, ...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!
Fountain of Apples, talking about the staff and their work... I just wonder why did you leave the phpBB team? too personal to share? Too confidential to let us know? When you were in the team, you helped alot of people. I appreciate receiving help from you one time. You helped many and I am sure th...

Re: Suspecting RC1 very soon!
Actually I should correct myself: He's not on every other team anymore. Now he seems to be only on the development team. From what I know of Vic, I'm sure that he will fit the bill quite nicely, which is good because the development team has been dwindling recently. Acyd Burn is the only developer w...

Not impressive, he's already on every other team.
