Use the phpBB class, do not do manual changing to html.
Rember about security and custom bbcodes.

phpBB3 b4 is stable (exept for some non-critical bugs), but if you have problems with upgrading from 2.0.21 there might be bigger problems with upgrading phpBB3 b4 to b5, (if there will be b5). Just because noone guarantees you that there will be an automatic b4>b5 upgrade. Tables in the database ...

This is not a feature request, etc... This is just a feedback about modding of phpbb3.

I am working on 2 mods now. These are:

1) Chat. It works, but no moderators yet and some functions as status still are not there. It has 2 variants: ajax and frames with autoselector.

ChALkeR: have you considered using one of the AJAX php servers? Such as phpfreechat, Chategory, or Chatr? It seems it would be much easier working off an already working system and just implementing the user logon part.


Hm. About AJAX, I used xajax... And to the chat code, I've already made it ...

I started modding...
But my mod doesn't change anything in the phpBB files, exept adding a link to the template.
