I wholeheartedly agree. All the people that have worked hard so we could have this awesome tool deserve a great deal of thanks.Gumfuzi wrote:it is time to say something to all the dev's and it's really time for that:

Re: Are you going to use RC1 in a live environment?
I will be using it live. I do have some things that I want to add before upgrading. Some of the mods to 2.x I have have of course been superseded by new features in 3.x, but a couple of the mods haven't.

Re: How much would you pay?
I'd be willing to pay $30-$60 for phpBB3.0, having a phpBB forum is a luxury, but I'd still be willing to pay that much for what I get out of it.
For "for pay" projects I might be willing to pay more although there'd be a diminishing return there...at some point you have to justify the expense to ...

I'll be upgrading to phpBB3 using RC1, as soon as I apply a couple of mods I want in place before using phpBB3 live.

Re: hack, mod or bridge??
I'm not familiar with MX-BB, so I can't say on that front, but in terms of integrating with joomla, I imagine it'd work well as a joomla module, depending on how you wanted to handle authentication.
The new "authentication plugin" facility makes it pretty easy to have phpBB authenticate against ...

Re: are the confirmation pages really necessary?
The first (going straight to the admin panel) makes sense to me.
The second is a choice, not a notification. You can choose to view your message (occasionally useful when you want to reply immediately) or choose to return to the forum you were posting to. (phpBB2 currently operates in this fashion ...

I would say we're overwhelmed with your brilliance...
But mainly, captchas hasn't really been on my radar.

Re: 'Mark Topics Read' navigation
So we have two desired behaviors. Sounds like a user option to be added.
e.g. In the UCP we could have "Desired behavior when marking all read: " and the choices be:
"Mark all messages read, and return to parent forum or Index"
or
"Mark all messages read, and return to the same forum ...

Woohoo!
Everyone can imagine my excitement when I saw the phpBB checkin where Meik changed the version number in CVS! I immediately went from "reading e-mail" to "checking Area 51"...
I wanted to thank the developers providing the newest beta, so we can play with the new code!

Hmm? ? Does it change it to white on white, or some variation on that theme? (that'd make it readable if you highlight it)Martin Blank wrote: useful for some of the scientific discussions) as well as spoiler text. Whether you'll be able to get into MathML, I don't know.
