That is inevitable if you want to use a plain CSS grid system. If you want a class-less grid system you have to use things like SASS or LESS. However, you can also use Bootstrap, Foundation etc. components without grids.

Zurb Foundation ( http://foundation.zurb.com/ ) is a great Bootstrap alternative and it is GPLv2-compatible (MIT license).

I suggest to the staff to take care personally and in VERY good way (attachments included) about an eventual converter from Invision Power Board to phpBB 2.2. This due to recent changes to the licence of Invision Power Board, that are inducing to the suspension of some localized support forums too ...
