Re: Posting Pictures

Oh, and another more practical side note:

You have a lot of wallpapers most of them are in various sizes.

You may UPLOAD all the images as attachments, but want only the smalest image to displayed on the forum itself. Yet you want to give users a chance to 1 click preview your wallpapers by ...

Re: Posting Pictures

You realy should try the feature before comminting on it. When you post an attachment that is a graphic it displays it in the message. You dont have to edit your post or anything.

Do you think it will work with all present and future graphic formats? Recognizing a file as graphics file can be ...

Re: Posting Pictures

attachment is one thing, but when you attach a file, the board software won't know it is an image, and before the actual upload you won't know the URL to the attachment, posting an attachment and then editing a post etc. isn't the best way to upload a picture and add it to your message.

Re: Will there be user-agent allowance.

I agree with the opinion you have now about this functionality, and as I see it it is mostly template / mod stuff, but if you don't see any reason why would someone do any mod that provides automatic login / changes in settings / etc based on user agent (or IP, or URL you use when reaching the board ...

Good to hear that :) But as I said elsewhere there are a lot of other questions left unanswered.

Re: Will there be user-agent allowance.

erm, it doesn't follow all the standards ... may I remind you that for the longest time Netscape was the real bad boy and with good reason. There are absolutely no plans at all to introduce "browser blocking". I find it a rediculous idea and simply will not entertain it.

Browser blocking and user ...

Re: Can I ignore entire forums

There are usergroups even now, and these usergroups can be assigned to various topics. As I see, hiding forums isn't generaly a good idea, but assigning them to groups and letting you to chose if you want a membership in that group or not, that is another question it can work well.

Re: Karma - Hiding posts - Hiding persons

Lets see some problem: You have a large board and not enough moderators, and don't want to trust more people with these privilegies, how can you fix most of the problems? Let the users decide about a lot of posts. But it isn't enough since an unrated post can still start a flame war. But you can ...

Re: Karma - Hiding posts - Hiding persons

Karma is for a person not a post, rating posts is a bit different from this karma system.

Stroing more data, using more queries, etc. should have an effect on your system. But it depends on your board size in a lot of cases
