true. I just thought that they would at least put in the KNOWN stuff that works from the dev board into the CVS. For example the syntax error on line 198 of viewtopic.php has been there for a long amount of time and no one has taken the time to update the CVS release.
I'm just saying that there is stuff that is known to work well on the dev board that should be, but isn't, in the CVS. Avatars, etc.
I mean I can fix most of it myself, I was just saying that it would make early development a little more friendly.

Re: difference between area51 and CVS
I'm sure that adding a ) to line 198 of viewtopic is not one of their main concerns. The main thing that they are worried about is that the beta/RC/final version works properly, and also that this board works as well.
CVS's aren't meant to work 100%, otherwise they probably wouldn't be CVS's
If you know what's wrong in the CVS, fix it yourself, if you don't know what's wrong, tough. That's the beauty of it lol
Just think of it as lucky that the CVS is available to us, otherwise we'd have nowt to fix/moan about/praise/etc.

Re: difference between area51 and CVS
That line 198 came in recently for me, hadn't seen it before but there is more then that.. we test on a windows system, but our main site is a unix server with both diff apache and php and mysql versions.. Installing and running the CVS on those are.. urr.. very different too.. lol
Makes me wonder.. is windows so unstable it generates errors everywhere or is unix so slacking that it just don't care??

And if you don't know how to fix this well, it also you answer if to use CVS.
As far as I see the only thing they didn't put in is stuff like the user interface for groups, with is still being worked on. (I want it i tell you, give it to me )
i recall a wait ago that the PM system wasn;t working on this site, but was in the CVS. It would affect people more is a uncompleted code was added to the CVS and the CVS had the same problem
Re: difference between area51 and CVS
I never said i didn't know how to fix it. I just said that if the CVS is not ment to be stable and they have at least some partially working features on this board that aren't in the CVS, why not put them in the CVS? As far as I understand, the CVS is ment to be a constantly updated set of code that is used for development. If it is used for development why not put in everything they are working on. Then the people can fix any problems for themselves as you stated. I just don't see if they aren't going to offer support why not give us everything they have?
Anyway, it's not a big deal.
