I don't think the developers have a long-term feature list for anything beyond 2.2...at any rate, it is a possibility :D

I looked around, where is the feature request thing?

I've used a spell check feature before on other forums, one being custom made forum software and I had over 14000 posts on their forums. It actually made me a better speller. Makes things look professional too if the words are spelled right. :)

If there would be a mod someone would make/already made (2.0.x for ex.) that would do this, my fear is it will slow things down. I know phpBB 2.2 will be much faster so I would rather see it integrated by the phpBB team so that's why I will request it.

Thanks.

Since psoTFX just told you that it won't be in 2.2, that probably means requesting it would be futile :) The "feature request thingy" is two fora down, and you'll need a sourceforge account to request.

Besides, I've already filed a request, ages ago.

There is a spell check feature on the WYSIWYG editor "HTML Area"

Info: http://dynarch.com/mishoo/htmlarea.epl" target="_blank
Demo: http://dynarch.com/htmlarea/examples/fully-loaded.html" target="_blank

I just really want this incorperated into this forum as I think HTML Area is so cool.

Why wouldn't you want to include a spell check feature if people want it? Haven't you ever heard of aspell (http://aspell.sourceforge.net) or psepell (http://us3.php.net/manual/en/ref.pspell.php)? These two features would allow you to create a great spell-checking feature.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere between features and bloat. There's also that small problem of time. If 2.2 is to be released this side of the next millenia change, it wouldn't be too wise to be coding in every single feature that users can possibly think of, as well as the kitchen sink.
And if that isn't enough for you, the bottom line is that psoTFX has said no, so no it will be. Arguing this point will get you no-where.
