Ohhh!!! Very nice to have custom profile fields.. I was not looking forward to hard-coding/editing several different files and worrying about upgrading, etc. This should cut my deployment time a lot! Now I can focus on other parts of the site.. I've been holding off for like a year now, hoping for this to be done

you mean no-where
Custome profiles (fields) will be a standard feature in 2.2 (see this) but is not in 2.0.8a (although it easy to mod an extra field).
Procrastination is my hobby, but I keep on postponing it.
