Sub Templates

Postby mercifull » Fri Dec 12, 2003 12:26 pm

I see here that the template changes depending on the forum (excellent) but is there a way of making it so that only the header changes and the rest of the theme is the same like i use on my site with Ptirhiik's sub templates mod???

The easiest way is to supply only the template elements you want different from the default style. It will then use a combination of those bits with the default template set.

It is the way the sub-template works : does it covers also part of the icons set (I refer here of the buttons ie), meaning you haven't have to duplicate nd to remap in the equivalent of a .cfg all icons because one change for a style ?

Imagesets, Tempaltes, and stylesheets have been split into three distinct elements allowing you to "mix-and-match" to create different themes.

I understand this, but the question was : if you add (or replace) only one icon for a style, have you to duplicate all the other ?

could you specifiy say just an overall_header.html (or whatever its called now) as the subtemplate or would this require a mod such as the one already around for 2.0.x

As I understood, you can split CSS, .html and image sets, but each has to be full in order to get a valid result.

No, not true ... as I've said above ... you can supply just the template/s you want. And so long as a full default set is available they will be used to "fill in the blanks".
