i haven't tried it, but i'm pretty sure it's for saving a post so that you can go grab a beer and finish the post later 8)

at least i really hope it's that, it was one of my wishes for 2.2.

Exactly. You can save the post as a draft and continue writing it later. You can find the "saved drafts" in you User Control Panel.

Do not count on the current implementation. ;)

I won't repeat it's content, suffice it to say, it was v. distasteful and racist (and imho believe it should've gotten him/her a (temporary) ban)

I wouldn't say it was distasteful or racist. I didn't bash any race at all, I was just joking about the current state of some of the buttons =/
