Will the amount of queries when making a post (the confirmation page right after you hit submit) be reduced?
20+ is a fair amount.

Re: 20+ queries when posting
I think maybe it depends on how long your post is. Something to do with the search indexes, maybe.
Then again...
Re: 20+ queries when posting
sigh, queries are not the be all and end all of everything chAos Take a look @ the code and see what it does for yourself ... if there is scope to reduce the query count we'll do so.

Re: 20+ queries when posting
Indeed, as Paul says, it not just query count, since a large number of very quick queries can be faster overall than a few very complex ones. It's all about balance.
However, I did a little benchmark using the "10 Commandments of phpBB", which contains lots of nested BBCode posting it to a 2.0.4 and 2.1 CVS, with mostly implimented text parser.
2.0.4 managed to process the post between 1.70 to 2.10 seconds.
2.1 CVS managed this in a scant 0.50 to 0.60 seconds, even though the query count is "comparable".

Re: 20+ queries when posting
Don't forget, the number of files you load makes a difference as well as the queries
Although we are on the subject of queries not necessarily being important well... hm, never mind then

Re: 20+ queries when posting
hmm.... i will go and have a look at the code after this, but i was just wondering cause generally speaking, smaller numbers can be better than bigger numbers.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Syntax highlighting is really really nice, but is there any chance of getting the font size a little larger? It's pretty hard to read, and that's *with* my glasses on.
